On June 10, 2022, Mr. Igor Levental, a Director of NOVAGOLD RESOURCES INC. (the
“Company”), died suddenly and unexpectedly.

On June 14, 2022, the Company issued a press release announcing the death of Mr.
Levental. The press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
