The UK is struggling to send priests to work in the EU as a result of Brexit, a senior bishop has warned.
Moving overseas to serve as a Church of England priest in Europe has “seldom been so attractive and seldom been so complicated”, the Bishop in Europe, the Right Rev Robert Innes, has said.
Brexit has forced Anglican priests to work illegally while they wait for permits and made it more difficult for them to bring their spouses and to retain volunteers.
Dotted across the continent and spreading beyond its borders, as far south as Morocco and as far east as Mongolia, there are 280 Church of England congregations that make up part of the Diocese in Europe, a network still formally linked to
