The Bank of Burlington is now open for business, marking the first new bank chartered in the state in 33 years.Bank officials received the final approval to open after obtaining a certificate of insurance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Company as well as a Certificate of Authority from the state Department of Financial Regulation.The bank, which is located at 30 Kimball Ave. in South Burlington, began a soft opening on Tuesday to test out processes and technology. A grand opening date has not yet been set.NBC5’s Stewart Ledbetter recently sat down with Bank of Burlington President Geoffrey Hesslink to learn what sets the new financial institution apart from the competition.

BURLINGTON, Vt. —

The Bank of Burlington is now open for business, marking the first new bank chartered in the state in 33 years.

Bank officials received the final approval to open after obtaining a certificate of insurance from the Federal Deposit Insurance Company as well as a Certificate of Authority from the state Department of Financial Regulation.
