London’s financial districts are set to become ghost towns again this week, as the biggest rail strike in 30 years prompts some firms to tell staff to remain home.

Last ditch efforts to avert a walkout this week that makes commuting for tens of thousands of the City’s financial services workers largely impossible have failed, with the RMT union saying that planned industrial action will go ahead.
