Blog: Brexit-loving activist lifts lid on vile ‘liberal’ abuse: ‘Stick to Love Island’ – Daily Express

Emily Hewertson said the main culprits who instigate the online abuse against her are middle-aged women. Today she took to Twitter and said: “I have been told to kill myself numerous times by people who think they are morally superior because they vote Labour. It’s time to stop judging people by who they vote for and instead on their character.”

“Nigel Farage and Anna Soubry were on it.

“Mr Brexit Versus Miss Remain.”

Ms Hewertson said that when she asked a question on the BBC prime time current affairs programme the video clip of her exchange with Theresa May went viral.

The next day she told how “my Twitter following had exploded from a respectable 1,450 followers to a staggering 25,000”.

However, she said that she then began receiving abusive messages online.

The messages “included ‘wannabe Barbie’, ‘her forehead is huge’, ‘too much make-up’, ‘stick to Love Island, love’”.

Most shockingly, the “most vile” comments did not come from “leering Remainers”, but from “middle-aged women”.

She then said that “death threats became a daily occurrence” from online trolls.

The Tory supporter added: “I was told by one troll that if they saw me on the street, they would throw acid in my face.

“By another that they would burn my house down with all my family inside.”

The Brexiteer spoke about having friends “from all over the political spectrum”.

She describes being friendly with “left-wing communists and Thatcher idolisers”.

She said”one thing unites” all of her friends – “they are kind and caring”.

However, she added that “as the famous saying goes ‘if you are not a liberal when you are young, you have no heart’”.

However, Ms Hewertson states that in her experience “it is suggested quite the opposite”.

She added: “The far-left ‘liberal’ loons on Twitter are some of the most unpleasant people I have ever come across.”
