Blog: NWF Group reports ‘strong’ Q4 as firm defies Brexit and Covid to end year on a high – Business Live

A Cheshire-based agricultural business has reported a “strong” overall trading performance from its fourth quarter meaning full-year profit is now expected to be ahead of market expectations.

Nantwich-based NWF said performance in fuels and food had been positive, with the success coming despite the “challenges” caused by Covid-19 and Brexit uncertainty, as well as a cyber hacking incident that hit the firm at the end of last year.

Heating oil sales were supported by a cold winter and continued home working, while in its food department, the firm’s new Crewe warehouse has set “a good benchmark for efficiency”.

The firm also said net debt at the year end will be lower than previous expectations – and that the group has not furloughed any staff or used any form of Government support.

Richard Whiting, chief executive of NWF said: “We’ve delivered a positive result ahead of expectations set before the pandemic, demonstrating great business resilience, despite the challenges of Covid-19, Brexit uncertainty, a cyber incident and unprecedented commodity price increases.

“Our teams have worked hard during the year meeting customers’ needs whilst staying safe. We have entered the new financial year in good shape with strategic progress continuing.”

NWF said it will announce its final results for the year ended May 31, 2021 on August 3.
