Blog: ‘Let me finish!’ Ex-Brexit Party MEP rages at Remainer James O’Brien in heated fishing row – Daily Express

During a fiery interview on LBC, June Mummery erupted at James O’Brien, demanding that the radio host let her finish her point. The former Brexit Party MEP also criticised Boris Johnson and the UK Government for not delivering on their Brexit promises to the UK’s fishing industry.

Ms Mummery said: “I thought our Prime Minister, our Government were going to take back control of our waters.

“If they had done that, we would be in a very different position.”

The LBC host interjected: “But I explained to you in 2018 why that was impossible.”

The former MEP replied: “Oh James, please just let me finish.”

Mr O’Brien said: “You are not making any sense June.”

Ms Mummery hit back: “I know because you will not let me get this across.

“What did you want to talk about? What part of this conversation can I get over?

“If we had taken back control of our resources and the fish we would be in a completely different position.”

Earlier this year, Ms Mummery told Express.co.uk that once the terms on fishing with the European Union were revealed, fishermen felt they had been let down by the UK Government again.

The former Brexit Party MEP labelled Boris Johnson’s broken promises as soul-destroying.

She said: “It was odd really because for the first time really the fishing industry, and the fishermen mainly, thought, ‘oh dear, we have been shafted again’.

“The broken promises that our Prime Minister gave us are soul-destroying.

“I get lots of Remainers saying you know what you voted for and you knew this was going to happen.

“I truly believed Boris…I had a meeting with him where he said if we leave the EU we will take everything back.

“I believed him…and that is what hurts me too.”

She added: “I expected that we would concede a bit, possibly they could carry on fishing sustainably, banning super trawlers, all these different things but no way did I expect for us to give everything away.”
