Britain’s leading cultural organisations have warned Boris Johnson that time is running out to solve the “crisis” for companies wishing to tour in Europe.
The heads of Royal Opera, the Royal Shakespeare Company and scores of other organisations have claimed that despite the prime minister’s promise to fix the visa problem there has been little progress.
Since Brexit, organisations and individuals wishing to tour in Europe have to spend hundreds of pounds and provide numerous documents for separate visa applications to each country they intend to visit.
Touring has also been made harder with the imposition of limits on the number of stops hauliers — carrying orchestral equipment, for example — are allowed to make within the European Union.
Money-spinning tours of productions such
