Blog: British fashion cuts ‘patronising’ minister down to size over Brexit – The Times

Oliver Dowden has been accused of patronising the £35bn fashion industry after telling leaders to use their “star power” to persuade Brussels and EU member states to relax post-Brexit restrictions.

Dame Vivienne Westwood, Twiggy and Sir Paul Smith were among 450 leading fashion voices who signed an open letter this month calling on the government to help the fashion and textile sectors.

They said that the fashion world faced “decimation” because of the Brexit deal, with designers facing “a mountain of paperwork” to import material and export clothes, with many professionals unable to work in fashion capitals on the continent.
