Blog: TII to turn Dublin airport Holiday Blue car park into Brexit truck stop – The Times

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is planning to convert more than a third of Dublin airport’s Holiday Blue long-term car park into a temporary holding facility for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), as part of Brexit preparations.

The body has submitted a planning application to Fingal county council seeking approval to build a temporary parking facility that could cater for up to 250 HGVs. The site would also provide 10 prefabricated buildings to be used as offices, canteens, bathrooms and shower units.

It is understood the facility would be used as a back-up option to prevent traffic jams at the Port Tunnel, if lorry drivers travelling between the UK and Ireland were delayed while waiting for authorities to check documents.
