Polls showing that the Scots favour independence have failed to spook the markets because, according to a major investment bank, the threat to the Union will boost chances of a Brexit deal.

Research suggests that more Scots favour leaving the UK, with the SNP set to win a majority in the Holyrood election on May 6.

Dean Turner, a UK economist at UBS Wealth Management, the Swiss multinational investment bank and financial services company, said that the financial markets have yet to be influenced by the prospect of separation.
