Hang on, I thought we’ve already got Brexit done?
Yes, Boris Johnson has already delivered a British exit from the EU, ergo can rightly boast of having got Brexit “done”. But the job is not yet over as the Prime Minister has sought to hammer out what comes next as the UK’s relationship with the EU – and by extension the rest of the world.
Consider January 31 2020 the symbolic , technical and legal Brexit, with the UK set to take its first fully independent steps at the end of the year once its transition period ends.
So when is the UK set to leave the EU for good?
December 31 2020. This could have been delayed, but the Government stuck to its guns in refusing to ask for any extension, which the EU recognised.
